Welcome to Zennor Class! We are a mixed age class with both Year 4 and Year 5 children, creating a rich environment where different perspectives and strengths come together. Our core principles center around being true to yourself and embracing the courage to make mistakes as a valuable part of learning. We passionately foster a growth mindset, encouraging children to embrace the “power of yet” understanding that even if they can’t do something yet, persistence and practice will help them get there.
In Zennor Class, mutual respect is at the heart of everything we do, guiding our interactions and building a safe space where all pupils feel valued. Challenge is another cornerstone of our approach; we know that facing challenges helps our brains grow stronger, and we support children in exploring creative solutions and encourage dialogue and collaboration wherever possible. Conversations in our class are crucial to learning, and we practise listening with our ears, eyes, and brain, ensuring each child’s voice is heard and respected.

Homework:
In Zennor Class, we encourage children to read each day. To access online books, we have free use of Epic reading for 2 hours a week.
Each week, we have ten spellings to learn – we can practice on SpellingShed but we like doing paper games, too.
To support our arithmetic skills, we can practice Times Table Rockstars, at school and at home. We also encourage children to practise their number facts if they haven't embedded them yet. This is crucial in helping them reach their mathematics potential.
Children are welcome to use their EdShed accounts for Maths Shed, too as well as playing games on Mathsframe.co.uk and Mathsbot.
