Headteacher's Welcome

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Kennall Vale School – a small village Primary school serving Ponsanooth near Truro. We are on the A393 Redruth – Falmouth road, close to the Kennall Vale Nature reserve, a picturesque river valley containing the remains of Kennall Vale Gunpowder Works. Kennall Vale School opened in new, purpose built premises in 1993 and, since then, has been extended and completely refurbished. The school has 5 classrooms, and at present 132 pupils on roll organised into mixed-age classes.

At Kennall Vale,  we believe in nurturing the whole child in a supportive and vibrant community. Our school is more than just a place of learning; it is a home away from home where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our core values 'Kennall Vale CARES' are Community, Aspiration, Respect, Excellence, and Success are at the heart of everything we do.

Community

We pride ourselves on fostering a strong sense of community. Our school is a place where children, parents, and staff work together in a spirit of mutual support and cooperation. We believe that a close-knit community is essential for creating a nurturing and safe environment where every child can thrive. We have a very strong 'Friends of Kennall Vale School' who raise a huge amount of money to enhance everything we do in school.

Aspiration

At Kennall Vale School, we inspire our students to dream big and aim high. We encourage them to set ambitious goals and provide the guidance and support they need to achieve them. We believe that fostering a spirit of aspiration helps children develop the confidence and resilience they need to succeed in all areas of life.

Respect

Respect is a cornerstone of our school ethos. We teach our students to respect themselves, each other, and the world around them. By promoting an environment of kindness, understanding, and empathy, we help our students develop into considerate and responsible individuals.

Excellence

We are committed to excellence in all aspects of school life. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to provide high-quality education and enriching experiences that challenge and engage our students. We strive to create an environment where excellence is the norm and where every child is encouraged to achieve their personal best.

Success

Success looks different for every child, and at Kennall Vale, we celebrate all forms of achievement. Whether it's academic success, personal growth, or contributions to the community, we recognise and applaud the unique talents and accomplishments of each child.

Collaboration with Ponsanooth Pre-School

We are pleased to work closely with Ponsanooth Pre-School, which provides excellent before and after school care for our students. This partnership ensures that our children have a seamless and supportive experience throughout their early years, offering convenience and peace of mind for our families.

We look forward to working with you and your children to create a positive and enriching educational journey.

The school endeavours to ensure communication is clear and informative. The school secretary, Mrs Catherine Goward is available every day if you wish to contact her within school opening hours. The school day starts at 8:30am and ends at 15:15pm
